The first meeting of the Technical Committee responsible for organising the fifth edition of the Cross-border Climate Change and Coastal Congress, bringing together representatives from the public sector, politics, business, technicians, experts from technology and research centres, took place this morning at Ficoba (Irun, Spain).

The main aim of this multidisciplinary debate, which will be held at Ficoba on 16 and 17 November 2022 and which is promoted by this exhibition centre and the AZTI technology centre, is to find out the needs of managers who have to adopt measures to tackle climate change and to see what the scientific and technological community can contribute to solving it. All of this in a context that favours the exchange of experiences, knowledge of good practices, promotes collaboration in the management and maintenance of the coastline through cross-border cooperation, the creation of synergies and new business opportunities as a result of the measures that must be adopted progressively to tackle climate change.

New members of the Technical Committee

In this first Committee, in addition to working on the thematic blocks to be addressed by the congress, Gis Littoral Basque and the University of the Basque Country have been welcomed as new members of the Technical Committee. For its part, the UPV-EHU joins the Uhinak Committee through the Faculty of Science and Technology.

With these new incorporations, the Uhinak Technical Committee is made up of the following entities: Basque Government (Ihobe), the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Naturklima Foundation, the Communauté d’agglomération Pays Basque, Adegi, CSIC/ESADE/CEAB, Spanish Office for Climate Change, BC3, the Association of Civil Engineers of the Basque Country, IAHR (International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research), the Euroregion New Aquitaine-Euskadi-Navarre, Gis Littoral Basque, UPV-EHU and AZTI.
