A comprehensive tourist, cultural and leisure offer
The Basque Coast is one of the most important tourist destinations due to the natural beauty of its environment and because it represents the diversity of different historical and cultural heritages. It is a remarkable enclave at the foot of the Pyrenees mountain range and open to the Cantabrian Sea, in the Atlantic Ocean.

  Sport and leisure
This region has developed an extensive offer of leisure and sporting activities around its most emblematic spa towns such as San Sebastian and Biarritz. Around these, and taking the Bidasoa-Txingudi region - FICOBA natural area - as an equidistant point between these towns, the following are worthy of mention:

Six MARINAS situated in a radius of 30 kilometres from the Exhibition Centre with a capacity of more than 2,000 moorings in Hondarribia, Hendaye, San Sebastian, Zumaia, Anglet...
A RACECOURSE in Lasarte, five minutes from San Sebastian, which organizes different prizes in the spring and summer seasons.
At least sixteen GOLF courses among which are the Biarritz course, the second oldest on the continent, as well as others in Hondarribia, San Sebastian, Zarautz or Anglet.

CASINOS in the towns of San Sebastian, Hendaye, San Juan de Luz and Biarritz open their doors to those visitors who wish to play roulette, baccarat, etc...
The Basque Coast also has the best beach infrastructures where a wide range of water sports may be played as well as enjoying well known championships such as the French Surf Open which takes place on the beaches of Biarritz.
Set in the foothills of the Pyrenees, one of Europe's most important mountain ranges, the Bidasoa-Txingudi region is situated at less than two hours from one of the most famous winter sports in the world: skiing. From their snow-capped peaks there are numerous ski resorts with kilometres of pistes and all the necessary installations to practice this sport.
Other sporting events that take place in this region are the jai-alai matches and the fishing boat regattas. Among the former, the World Professional Jai-Alai Championships and the Golden Glove are noteworthy which are held in the summer at the San Juan de Luz Jai-Alai court.

  Culture and traditions
In the cultural field, the city of San Sebastian offers a range of shows such as the Jazz Festival, the Bach Festival, the Musical Fortnight (the oldest classical music festival in Spain) and the International Film Festival as well as theatre performances. Furthermore, different museums in and around the capital open their doors to art in San Telmo, Chillida Leku and the Casa de Zuloaga, to science in the Aquarium and in Kutxaespacio or to fashion in the Balenciaga Museum.

For its part, the French town of Biarritz organizes different activities including the Latin American Film Festival, the Travel Photography Festival, dance festivals (Les Temps d'Aimer) and classical music seasons. The Maritime Museum and the Museum of Chocolate are remarkably special.

Other attractions which are no less important arise from the history and culture of this land that spills out beauty along its coast in the seaside towns of Getaria, Zarautz, Deba, San Juan de Luz, Biarritz, etc. Other places such as Bayonne, Saint Jean Pied de Port, Navarre and the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao represent an interesting alternative with easy access from the Txingudi region.
  Cuisine
Halfway between the tourist and the cultural offer, this region's cuisine stands out, which is highly acknowledged.

Michelin Guide restaurants and also more modest dining establishments combine tradition and innovation to turn eating into a ritual. Besides the conventional dishes, the streets of San Sebastian and of other towns offer a whole string of establishments where you can try the typical bar snacks or mini-cuisine.

To round off, a wide range of hotel accommodation is on offer in and around the region with the opportunity to enjoy paradores (high class state-owned hotels housed in places of historic interest), hotels of different categories, rural tourism houses and charming accommodation.

Some stays may also be combined with therapeutic seawater treatments in the thalassotherapy centres in Hendaye, San Sebastian, San Juan de Luz, Biarritz and in the indoor spas in Zestoa and Cambo, which maintain all the charm of the "belle époque".

The entire tourist and cultural offer of this Euro-region at the service of the visitors and exhibitors of the International Basque Coast Trade Show.
